About the safari

The perfect Mother City escape after a morning of Cape Town views and activities. After a hot day in the Karoo veld, the animals are just starting to stir, moving towards the watering holes and coming out of the shade. The safari is led by an experienced guide who will share exciting inside stories and facts about your surroundings, easily rousing your inner wild side. Duration of game drive and departure times are approximate and dependent on the interaction of the guests with the ranger and the sighting of animals. Please note: transport to and from the reserve is for your own arrangement.

Sunset Safari Itinerary

15h00: Arrival welcome drinks & snacks
It takes just under 2 hours to get to Aquila. Please leave in time to arrive by 15h00
16h00: 2-3 hr Big 5 game drive with snacks
A 4×4 tour around the reserve, chasing the sun and spotting the big 5
19h00: Depart for Cape Town

Spot the Big 5

Aquila is home to the big 5 animals, so you're bound to spot all of them during your early morning safari tour. Bring your camera!

Family Friendly

Aquila is a family friendly game reserve, and children are able to join us in the game drives. We also offer a Junior Range Programme.

Experienced Guide

A professional tour guide will drive you through the reserve, assisting you with spotting the Big 5 and giving you specific information about the animals on route.

Self-Drive

Sunset game drives at Aquila do not offer transport options to/from the reserve. Please self-drive.

Aquila is the best safari experience, the guide was absolutely amazing and so knowledgeable about all the animals. The passion and care taken for these animals and their environment is the best I've ever seen. The staff are amazing and friendly, the food is delicious and the all round experience is more than worth every cent. It has to have been my most favorite experience ever. Went for the full day safari, which includes breakfast and lunch. The food was good and the guide was great - he gave good information and stopped long enough for us to see and take pictures. There are no guarantees to see all of the big 5 but we did see 4 plus many other animals. It was a great way to spend a day with beautiful scenery as well. The spa and hotel look great - plan to come back again soon!
